Kenzie Moore |
Kenzie Moore comes from Los Angela California, he attended Dorsey High and in 1976 he moved to Terrell Texas to attend College. He attended Southwestern Christian College, where he major in Religious Education and became a preacher. He later attended Abilene Christian University and major in Accounting and is now attending UNT Dallas.
Kenzie is very active in his community, has been a resident of DeSoto since 1985, his kids attended school here. In 1988 he became a chaplain assistant with the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA), Hospice program, serving elderly black men dying of cancer and young black men dying of AIDS. In 1998 He started delivering Meals on Wheels in Southwest Dallas County and DeSoto TX.
In 1999 Kenzie completed the challenging leadership program called “Leadership Southwest”. He went on to serve as chairman for two years with Frank Bentley and then the executive board of directors.
Kenzie was elected to DeSoto ISD School Board of Trustee in 2008 and served until 2014. While on the board he served as Vice President of the Board Of Trustee. He later when on to assist and serve as a mentor for the WINGS Program (WHERE I NOW GANG SUCCESS), for young men and women who needed a second change.
In 2018 he was asked to run for city council of DeSoto district 7, he ran and won He was asked to take the leadership position of Mayor Pro Tem my a vote of his peers.
It was such an honor to serve alongside Mayor Curtistene S. McCowan, my mentor and friend for over 20 years.

He is very active in the Real Estate community. He has served as Chairman of the Government Affairs Committee and was a member of the Finance and Budget Committee, has also served as Chairman of the Public Education Committee of MetroTex Association Of REALTOR@.
Kenzie has served on many boards, previously served on the boards for Dallas Chapter of the NAACP, Dallas Urban League, Past President of DeSoto ISD Education Foundation, the Dallas Black Chamber Of Commerce and on the Advisory Board of the Visiting Nurse Association for Meals on Wheels and Hospice Care Giver (VNA). He is also one of the founding members of Metro Church of Christ which was started Jan 3, 1989.
He has received many civic and professional awards for his outstanding service and contribution to his community and his profession. He lives by the motto “Give Your Life Away To Something More Important Than You.” It is an honor to serve the people of DeSoto.
