DeSoto Chamber of Commerce
The DeSoto Economic Development Corporation (DEDC), is a 4A Sales Tax Corporation that invests sales tax-derived funds on behalf of the community of DeSoto. This attribute encourages additional private investment increases as well as diversifies the tax base, enhances business growth, lowers residential tax and increases the number of local business venues which improves the overall quality of living in our community.
In 1995, citizens voted in favor of a 3.8% sales tax that created the DEDC, which in part appropriated the sales tax dollars for Economic Development Projects. The DeSoto City Council appoints and oversees an unpaid, five-member board, which is comprised of experienced business leaders in the community. Each of the five board members serves a term of three years and develops policies and operating procedures for the corporation.
The DEDC Board meets monthly at City Council. All meetings are open to the public and are also televised on closed-circuit Comcast cable in DeSoto. If you’re interested in attending please check out the City Council Event Calendar.
